Geneva International Motor Show 1973

Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland
Dates
15th to 25th of March 1973
About the Event
On Thursday the traditional International Motorcar Show opened in Geneva. On a surface of more than 32,000 square meters the 1091 producers from 20 nations expose here their most recent products: private cars sports and racing cars, Prototypes and accessories of all kinds.
Porsche revived the Carrera name for its top-of-the-range 911 in 1972. After the model made its public debut at that year's Paris Motor Show on 5th October, it was subsequently presented at the Geneva Motor Show.
Ford took the stage at the Geneva Motor Show to debut the Ford Capri II (Mk2), marking the next chapter for the iconic coupe.
At the 1973 Geneva show, VW promptly dismissed every popular opinion about its brand. The Giugiaro-penned, Audi-engineered Mk1 Scirocco made underpowered front-drive cars seem clever, and it soon spawned the Golf and, later, the GTI.
