How can I contribute to ECR?

ECR is entirely user-driven, so our database can be edited at any time! Create an account here and navigate to the car you would like to edit. Use the red Edit button to submit the necessary amendments, following a guide found elsewhere in this FAQ. Once submitted, the edit will enter the Queue, where ECR users will vote on the validity/necessity of the change. If accepted, ECR will automatically update. If declined, a notification will appear on your Profile specifying the reasons.

What are the benefits of contributing to ECR?

ECR is the central hub for online exclusive car culture. By maintaining a strict lack of bias, our database is curated to show the stories that some might prefer to keep hidden or have been lost as the cars changed hands. Storing the data and details on ECR will help to showcase your knowledge and enthusiasm within the car community and help us preserve history, one car at a time.

How can I search for specific car makes or models?

The Cars page displays a list of all cars on ECR, with an array of search filters. The Makes page displays a list of all the manufacturers listed on ECR, each with its own page

Can I interact with other users in the ECR community?

Yes! Adding your social media links to your Profile will allow users to contact you. Also, upgrading to Premium allows you to interact with other users within the voting queue. We will soon be developing an internal chat feature, which will greatly improve this.

How can I contact the administrators or support team of ECR?

The ECR Team can be contacted here.

Model Year

Use the model year represented by the VIN. If the car is too old to have a VIN, use the original manufacturer's model year.

Color

Use the accurate color name, if possible. If the color name is not known, use ‘generic’ colors (blue, red, etc.) that are available. New colors can be requested here.

Interior

Use the manufacturer’s description of the interior, following the COLOUR MATERIAL - STITCHING / ACCENTS format. New interiors can be requested here.

Original Market

Use the market specification represented by the VIN. If the car is too old to have a VIN, use the original delivery location specified by the manufacturer.

Drive

Self-explanatory, but update if the car experiences a conversion, stating the original status in the Information section.

Build Sheet

Add the options from the manufacturer-provided build sheet, including option codes and prices when available.

Plaque Number

When cars have numbered plaques (that are unique to each example), specify the number here. Uploads with Plaque Numbers only and no Chassis/VIN will only be accepted if photo proof is provided.

VIN

Provide a photo of the VIN whenever possible.

Chassis

A basic requirement for every upload.

Engine Number

If an engine gets replaced, the number here gets updated. It is worth specifying the details of the engine change in the Information section.

Km/Miles

Please be as accurate as possible. When a car is listed for sale, try to find a photo of the odometer reading as opposed to what the listing says. These will often be more specific. Also, updates less than 12 months apart are not needed.

MSRP

Specify the MSRP only when it is provided by the manufacturer, either via a build sheet or invoice.

Location

Document location history in chronological order, with newest at the bottom. The current location should always be where the car resides with its owner.

Collection

If dates are not known, leave blank. If a Collection is missing, it can be uploaded here.

Events

Use Participant if the car was on the event’s entry list and Non-Participant for anything else (car park spots, dealer stands, etc.)

Races

Be as specific as possible using this format:

DRIVER / DRIVER - RESULT (NO.)

Museum

If dates are not known, leave blank. If a Museum is missing, it can be uploaded here.

Sales

Be as accurate as possible. If a Dealer / Auction House is missing, it can be uploaded here.

Information

Use this field for anything worth documenting. Examples include stories, notes about event wins and accident history.

Modifications

Be as accurate as possible in specifying the brand and extent of modifications. If modifications are removed, add a note in the Information field stating this.

Thumbnail

Thumbnails should be high-quality and accurately represent the car, using a front/side angle if possible.

Gallery

Use this for any images.

PRO Gallery

Use this for single-photographer professional shoots, commonly found with Dealers and Auction Houses.

Historical Media

Use this for anything worth documenting, including (but not limited to) significant events and races.

Videos

Use this to add any videos specifically about the exact example featured in the Car Page.

Window Sticker

Use this to add a photo of the original Window Sticker provided by the manufacturer.

Plates

Document license plate history in chronological order. License plates should be submitted with no spaces to ease in searches.

What type of information should I upload about a car?

Anything that would enrich the database is welcome! We love hearing stories of previous ownership and seeing how cars have been modified over the years. If an edit is not suitable, a member of the ECR Team will provide reasoning and further guidance.

Are there any guidelines or rules about uploading information about cars?

Guidelines for each field can be found here. Anything deemed in poor taste by the ECR Team will be removed and could result in disciplinary action.

This can be for a multitude of reasons, but will be explained in your Notifications, found here.

How do I use the Spotted function?

A function built for Car Spotters! If you’ve seen a car in person, click the Spotted button to add it to your list, found here. All users will be able to see that you’ve marked it as Spotted and may contact you regarding information about it. It’s always great to add a Location edit about where you saw the car as well!

How do I change my username?

Contact us here with the new username and the reasoning, and we will do our best to help.

What information do I need to include on my profile?

This is completely optional. Some users wish to include their location and links to social media, which can assist other users in contacting them.
