At the 1977 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, a 1927 Packard 343 Eight Murphy Convertible Sedan won the prestigious Best of Show award.

The Ford Motor Company donated the Dean Batchelor Trophy starting in 1977 to honor significant hot rod heritage vehicles.
