About the Event

The 1961 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance (the 11th annual event) awarded its top Best of Show honor to a 1930 Packard 740 Custom Eight Roadster, owned and restored by Scott and Ruth Newhall. The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance scheduled for November 1960 was cancelled and delayed to the spring of 1961 due to severe foul weather and bad storms. The rescheduled 1961 event successfully took place under clearer spring conditions, marking the first time the event's Best of Show was awarded in that decade.
