Goodwood Festival of Speed 2017
Chichester, England, United Kingdom
About the Event
The theme for the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed was 'Peaks of Performance Motorsport’s Game-Changers'. The 2017 edition was also a celebration of the 70th anniversary of Ferrari.
The central feature was chosen to celebrate five decades of Bernie Ecclestone’s involvement in Grand Prix racing, with genuine formula one cars from Ferrari, Brabham, Lotus and Mercedes displayed on the 35m tall central feature (the first central feature to celebrate a person as apposed to a marque). Other anniversary's celebrated in 2017 included the 110th anniversary of the opening of Brooklands.
In the shootout on the Sunday of the event, Justin Law came top of the pile in the Jaguar XJR12D with a time of 46.13 seconds, second place went to Jeremy Smith in the Penske-Chevrolet PC22 with a time of 46.22 and completing the top three was Mark Higgins in the Subaru WRX STI posting a time of 48.25.
As is usual there was no shortage of big names at the event, with people such as Nico Rosberg, Bernie Ecclestone, Valtteri Bottas, Robert Kubica, Kenny Bräck and Tom Kristensen among many others.
