Rétromobile 2012
Paris, Île-de-France, France
About the Event
The 37th edition of Rétromobile celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Association Automobile des Véhicules d'Époque (ASAVÉ), which played a major role in the founding of Rétromobile in 1976.
Some 70,000 visitors attended the show, which celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Honda Civic and the Renault 5 (of which more than 5.5 million units were sold) as well as the 50th anniversary of the Ferrari 250 GTO and the Alpine A110, with Renault Classic exhibiting six historic berlinettes: a Version 100 (1964), a 1600S (1971), a 1600SX (1977), and three Gr IV competition versions from 1972, 1973, and 1975.
The show highlighted the Monica 560, of which 30 were produced in 1973 by Jean Tastevin, as well as amphibious vehicles.
A unique feature of this edition is that it was not a brand or a model being presented for the first time at Rétromobile, but an engine—one with 9 cylinders and a displacement of 330 liters, weighing 30 tons and consuming 350 liters of fuel per hour. This engine, the Duvant Type 9 V.O.S. (1962), comes from the basement of the Auteuil Racetrack, where it served as an electric generator until 1990.
