Information
FA12 test car, never raced. This chassis was tested at Imola by Michele Alboreto ten days before 1991 San Marino Grand Prix, which was FA12's debut. The car suffered form a front wing mount failure at Temburello, the front wing stuck under the front wheels so steering was lost. The car hit the wall at a high speed and burst into flame, very similar to the two fatal crashes at Imola 3 years later: same location as Senna and same reason as Ratzenberger. Luckily Alboreto escaped from the cockpit by himself, but the had 15 stitches on his rib. Even if his injuries didn't heal yet, he still raced in the San Marino GP with the A11 C spare car. This FA12 chassis was written off, so the team had to built the second chassis for Alex Caffi to race in Imola.
