Information
A single 12C37/ 316 chassis was built with a supercharged 412 engine for Achille Varzi to race in Argentina in 1948. Never a success, the car passed to Clemar Bucci. As covered under #51204, it was rebuilt in the 1950s and again in the 1990s when Bucci wanted to sell it. Carlos Monteverde bought the car and it was restored by Tony Merrick in the UK and later sold by Symbolic Motors to an Austrian collector. Meanwhile Bucci had a large spares collection and according to a Dutch collector, built up the real Alfa chassis into a car called #51202. This car was sold to Harry Bootsma in 2006 with the 412 engine sitting very high in the chassis and the metallurgical report on the car noting it was constructed out of 'soft steel'.....
