About

The Spa-Francorchamps Circuit Museum is a non-profit organization that first opened to the public in 1984. Since 2002, it has been part of the ETC (Espace-Tourisme-Culture) museum complex located in the Abbey of Stavelot, which also houses the Museum of the Principality and the Guillaume Apollinaire Museum. 

The Musée du Circuit offers you an information site on the birth, life, functioning and achievements of the Museum, on the comings and goings of the vehicles.

Today, the museum continues to organize various events, including temporary exhibitions and activities related to motorsport, attracting between 40,000 and 50,000 visitors annually.



Since 2002, the museum has been part of the Espace-Tourisme-Culture (ETC) museum complex located in the Abbey of Stavelot, which also houses the Museum of the Principality and the Guillaume Apollinaire Museum.


In 1999, the Walloon Government provided 80% of the expenses for a new scenography, amounting to €380,000, as part of a global program for the restoration and reallocation of the abbey.


The Spa-Francorchamps Circuit Museum opened to the public in 1984, offering visitors insights into the history of the racetrack.


In the 1970s, the town of Stavelot restored a part of the abbey, including the vaulted cellar known as the 'columned cellar,' doubling its size by adding a contemporary-style room.


The inaugural Belgian Grand Prix took place at Spa-Francorchamps in 1925, marking the circuit's entry into international motorsport.


The Spa-Francorchamps racetrack was inaugurated in 1921, featuring a 14.982 km (9.309 miles) layout that utilized public roads, including sections through the towns of Stavelot and Malmedy.
