Horch P 240 Sachsenring Estate

In 1958, the P 240 Sachsenring served for the first time as news broadcasting vehicle at the International Peace Race. It was the most important amateur cycling race in the socialist countries during the Cold War era.

The coachbuilder Karosseriewerk Halle manufactured a total of six such estate car bodies practically by hand.

The cars served as mobile units for broadcasting and videotaping for GDR television and radio. There has never been any production for the private market.

The paint was either white and pigeon blue or grey like the vehicles of the GDR mail service. Inside the car, there is the AK 16, a 16 mm film camera by Zeiss Ikon Dresden (later VEB Pentacon Dresden), which was often used at sports events.
