Information
This 1971 911 ST was the first Porsche 911 entered by an American team in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Commissioned by John von Neumann, a Porsche dealer on the West Coast, it was delivered directly to the Le Mans racetrack for testing on April 17, 1971.
Painted in Tangerine with blue stripes inspired by its owner's personal aircraft, it was powered by a 2.4-liter engine. The car was entrusted to Alan Johnson and Elliott Forbes-Robinson (EFR) for testing and racing, and was nicknamed Sloopy Jr. in 1971. It became The Red Baron under the management of Bill Yates from 1972, and remained in his collection until 2004.
It was painstakingly restored under Dave Morse and is now in concours condition, faithfully reflecting its historic appearance and configuration.
