Information
Started life as a 1972 Porsche 911 2.5 S/T chassis 911 230 0769 - converted to 911 Carrera 2.7 RS prototype and in 1973 to 2.8 RSR prototype.
Originally painted in Blood Orange, repainted to Silver with Martini Livery.
Believed to have been originally conceived as a 911 2.5 S/T rally car entrusted to Sobiesław Zasada, it was crashed during Rajd Polski in 1972 and returned to the factory for repairs. Instead of re-building it to its original configuration, the chassis was renumbered and rebuilt as Carrera RS 2.7 RS prototype, used for homologation purposes for the road car.
Later it was equipped with a competition specification 2.8 litre engine and upgraded to Carrera RSR spec. It is understood to then have been used to homologate the RSR 2.8 as a Group 4 rally car.
Raced in the 1973 Targa Florio where it placed 3rd in the hands of Leo Kinnunen and Claude Haldi.
Sold at the beginning of 1974 to a privateer racer in UK. In the following years, it was campaigned in local events by its subsequent owners.
With its full history still unclear, the car was restored to its original 911 S/T configuration during the early 1990s.
Then it spent some time in the Blackhawk Collection before it was sold again in 2005. Next owner restored it to its 2.8 RSR Targa Florio configuration under the guidance of former Porsche engineer and driver Jürgen Barth. He entered the car in the 2014 Tour Auto. On the occasion, Barth told he believed that this was the fastest of all 2.8-litre engined RSRs currently in existence.
Now in Belgium since 2020, the car changed its color to Tangerine, the original color of the car when it was a 1972 Porsche 911 S. The owner kept the 2.8L RSR body configuration.
