2-time race winner: 1967 Mexican Grand Prix and 1968 Spanish Grand Prix.
Originally built as '49-R1' for 1967-1968 seasons. Rebuilt to 49B specification and renumbered to '49B-R9' for 1969 season.
Totaled during the 1969 Spanish Grand Prix, after Jochen Rindt crashed from the lead on lap 19 after suffering a rear wing issue. Jochen Rindt broke his nose and a marshall lost an eye.
