Information
After feeling betrayed by Didier Pironi in San Marino, Gilles Villeneuve promised never to speak to Didier again. During the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix, during qualifying, Didier Pironi was 1 tenth ahead of Gilles. Angry, he decided to go out to improve his time. During his fast lap, he met Jochen Mass, who stepped aside to let Villeneuve pass. However, Gilles did the same, impacting Mass, which caused the car to spin out. The belts came loose, sending Gilles flying, which caused him to lose his life after hitting the barriers.
