Information
Destroyed at 1980 Long Beach. The car's brake paddle broke down while Clay Regazzoni was cruising at 280 km/h on the straight, he couldn't brake at all and hit right into a retired Brabham, then hit the concrete wall, still with a speed of 150 km/h. The Ensign's chassis was almost twisted into a 90o angle and Regazzoni's spine and legs were badly wounded, although it was already a miracle for him to survive. Marshals took 25 minutes to rescue him. The accident made Regazzoni paralyzed from the waist down, ending his racing career and left him on a wheelchair in the rest of his life.
