Operated by Courage Compétition, the chassis started its life in 2000 as the carbon tub of a LMP900 prototype powered by a 3.5L TT Nissan V8. However, the car was withdrawn before it could race and made its official debut in 2002.
The chassis was then refitted with a Judd GV4 V10 engine and was raced in the 2002 FIA Sportscar Championship, designated as a Courage C60 JX. The car scored podiums in Estoril and Brno.
In 2004, the car was rebuilt to LMP2 (C65) spec and operated by Epsilon Sport. It started on a Mazda 3.4L JPX V6 for testing and was later switched to a Willman/IES 3.4L V6 for Le Mans. The car retired from Le Mans due to engine issues.
In 2005, the car returned to Courage Compétition where it was redesignated to a C60 Hybrid LMP1 Prototype and fitted with a Judd 4.0L V10. The 'hybrid' refers to a mix of the old chassis (LMP900) with new 2005 LMP1 rules (updated aero and safety features). Not the use of an electric powertrain. It was in this year that the car finished 8th overall and 6th in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
