This car was the Bugatti factory prototype. It originally had the registration number. 4874 J1, which was later changed to 4877 J1 (changed with chassis no. 4058). It was first raced at Bol D'or in May 1923. It was then used by Pierre de Viscaya in the 1923 Grand Prix after he had an accident in training with his own car (chassis number 4058), but retired after the first race. Subsequently, 4057 was sold in the Paris showroom on February 24, 1924.
