Information

Alfa Romeo's Group C race car that never was. The rules changed so now only naturally-aspirated 3.5L engines were allowed, much like in Formula 1, whether V8, V10 or V12, and since the 164 Procar was scrapped, the team at Alfa Romeo found another use for that V10 by building a Group C car to use it.
The main cause of the project's cancellation was that there were no customers willing to run the car. There were talks with Momo's Giampiero Moretti but nothing came from them. The car was never finished as it never got fitted a gearbox, despite having everything else on at some point, even the engine.

The V10 was first tested on a Lancia LC2 from Team Mussato but it wasn't as great as it was thought of being so a Ferrari V12 was in the cards instead.

The SE 048SP remains as a static model at the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo.

Modifications

No gearbox was ever fitted, it has a wooden makeshift one. It was supposed to be powered by a 3.5L V10 engine from the Alfa Romeo 164 Procar but the team went instead with an F1-derived 3.5L Ferrari V12. Both engines were once fitted in the car but currently it has no engine mounted.
