Alfa Romeo C42

Information

At the start of 2022 British GP, Zhou Guanyu was sandwiched by Russell and Gasly. The contact made this C42 roll over, the car slid upside down across the track, hit the barrier, took off again and stuck between the fence and the tyre wall. The hit against the ground destroyed the roll bar, and thanks to the halo, Zhou's head was protected from hitting the ground and leading to possibly fatal injury. However, failure of the roll bar was not meant to happen, and the halo was not designed for roll over accidents. Through F1 history, among countless roll over accidents, few have the roll bar destroyed. Similar accident happened at 1999 European GP with Pedro Diniz, coincidentally, the car was also a Sauber.
Despite badly damaged, the chassis survived, it was repaired and used in races later that season.
