Information
Early history of the car is unclear. There is evidence to suggest that it was one of two run by LO Racing in the Belgium Procar series in 1999/2000, although this has yet to be confirmed. What is known is that the car was acquired from a Belgium team by Danish racer Kasper Jensen in late 2001.
Jensen ran the car in the 2002 Danish series, although his season was cut short following an accident with Pierre Legarth at Jyllandsring Grand Prix in September. The brakes failed on Legarth’s BMW and despite his best efforts to slow the car crashed into the rear of the Alfa at almost unabated speed. The resultant impact left the BMW damaged beyond repair and the Alfa some 30cm shorter.
Unused in 2003, the repaired car was sold to John Hansen and updated to S2000-spec. Hansen would run in the Danish series from 2004 until 2007.
After another period of inactivity, the car was bought by Robin Appelqvist, run raced it in the Swedish/Scandinavian series in 2010/11.
In early 2012 the car was acquired by Barry McMahon and brought to the UK. Initially run in the Alfa Romeo Owners Club series, and latterly in Britcar, the car has been much upgraded over the years including a turbo-charged Giulietta engine and bigger aero.
