Founded in 2001 by Drew Alcazar, who became a general manager of Barrett Jackson in 1995 and later quit in 2000 so he and his wife would start their own auction house. Russo and Steele started as an annual auction in Scottsdale, AZ that specialized in selling American classics. They featured only 75 cars in their first year but have since grown to host 5 auctions per year with one of which taking place during Monterey car week. However, they fell upon hard times following a lawsuit in 2019 and closed its doors for good in 2020 / 2021
