Horch 920 S Saloon

With the 920 S (for streamline), the Horch factory was looking to appeal to the upper middle class after the Second World War. The body design was based on the aerodynamic experience of the Horch 930 S on the one hand and the design of the American brands Nash and Buick on the other. It was powered by the same six-cylinder engine that was already in use in the Audi 920. Mounting the gearbox directly on the rear axle made it possible to reduce the size of the cardan shaft, which only had to transfer the engine torque and there-fore created more legroom. The vehicle even came - complete with a radio and air conditioning. Once the prototype was complete, however, the project was abandoned for cost reasons.
