Ford Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin

The Sport Trac Adrenalin was developed by Ford’s Special Vehicle Team and introduced by Ford Chief Creative Officer J. Mays at the 2005 New York Auto Show. It was slated to enter production for the 2007 model year and featured a unique body kit and taller cargo bed sides, measuring approximately 5″ longer and 2″ wider than a standard Explorer Sport Trac. The production version was expected to feature the the Mustang SVT Cobra’s 390-horsepower 4.6-liter, 32-valve DOHC V-8 fitted with a Roots-type supercharger and a water-to-air intercooler. It would be mated to the ZF 6HP26 six-speed automatic transmission found in the contemporary Lincoln Navigator, and feature an all-wheel drive system that featured a 60/40-torque split biased to the rear, as well as an estimated 6k-pound towing capacity. The SVT Adrenalin project was cancelled in late 2006, and an Adrenalin appearance package based on the concept was introduced for the second-generation Explorer Sport Trac for the 2008 model year.
