The BMW 507 was launched at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. The design by Albrecht Graf Goertz was a star right from the start. The press celebrated the new two-seater as the 'Traum von der Isar' ('Dream from the Isar') and the 'BMW Sensation' ('BMW Sensation'). The roadster was regarded as one of the most beautiful sports cars of its time, and it was appropriately powered with a V8 lightweight alloy engine generating an output of 150 hp. However, this initial euphoria was not reflected in the number of units actually sold. Only 251 roadsters had rolled off the assembly line in Munich by the time production came to an end in December 1959. While the BMW 507 was already a very exclusive vehicle back in the day, today it has the reputation of being one of the most coveted classic cars bearing the blue-and-white emblem.
