Information

The Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust is a custom-built electric vehicle created by Top Gear and presented in Series 14, Episode 2, as a low-cost rival to the G-Wiz and Chevrolet Volt. Originally named 'Geoff,' the prototype was later upgraded into a diesel-electric hybrid featuring a boxy aluminum body, a high roofline to accommodate James May's hat, and narrow tires from a Citroën 2CV to reduce rolling resistance. Despite its innovative range-extender generator and 19-battery power pack, it was famously panned by Autocar for its lack of safety, poor handling, and a top speed of only 15.4 mph.

Underneath its incredibly beautiful exterior, the car is built on the chassis of a 1993 TVR Chimaera. The presenters stripped the British sports car of its V8 engine and bodywork, repurposing its frame and brakes to serve as the foundation for their electric creation.

During the design phase, the presenters claimed the 'Hammerhead' aesthetic was inspired by sharks, fighter jets, and the British actor Peter Bowles.

During the crash test, a dummy dressed as The Stig was used. Because Geoff was so slow, the 'impact' barely registered, though the roof flew off upon contact with the wall.
