The first of three Surtees TS20s built, this car was entered for Vittorio Brambilla during most of the 1978 Grands Prix. At the car's Monaco debut, the Italian failed to qualify and in the remainder of the outings could do no better than a seventh-place finish at Jarama. Later in the year, Beppe Giabbiani failed to qualify the car twice for the two North American rounds of the World Championship
