Information
Helmut Koinigg was killed in this car at 1974 United States Grand Prix. He had a suspension failure and hit the barrier, but the speed was not high enough to any cause serious damage. However, the barrier was not properly fixed, quite common on tracks at that time. So Koinigg's car penetrated through the lower part of the barrier, but the upper part was still intact. As a result, the upper part decapitated Koinigg, killing him instantly. This was one of the most brutal and bloody accident in F1 history, similar to François Cevert's fatal accident last year at the same track. These two accidents were merged and feature in the movie Rush.
