The car was built from the ground up in 2006 and is the last of two similar 996-based RUF Turbos. Although officially designated as an 'RTurbo' model due to its 996 underpinnings, it features the same engine (again 996f-based, but bored out to 3.8 liters) and is the top-configured version of the 997-based RUF RT12, which went into production in 2004.
