Information
Damaged by Jonathan Palmer at 1984 British Grand Prix after a steering failure.
The crash caused some controversy. Palmer crashed at lap 11, and the steward decided to stop the race to clear his wreckage. The red flag was waved at the end of lap 12, while the two leading McLarens were already in lap 13. According the regulations, the order of restart should be the order at the end of lap 11. As a result, Nelson Piquet returned to pole position, because he was leading at the end of lap 11, despite pitted and dropped position in the following lap.
