Information
959 Speedster, only open Porsche 959.
Originally delivered as a Coupe in Poly Silver, rolled over in a crash and was rebuild as a Convertible
The car was crashed on the German Autobahn just after delivery at the factory. Another car suddenly pulled out to pass a truck while the owner was powering along at 230 km/h in the overtaking lane. The two collided, with the 959 slamming into a guardrail and overturning before coming to a stop - its roof and side body panels were severely damaged.
Original owner sold it to a German car collector and with the help of Auto Becker dealership it was rebuilt as the world's only roofless 959.
Raceline Feustel restored the bodywork which took 4000 hours to complete. An electric roof and a hardtop was provided to the owner who could decide whether to drive the car as a convertible, speedster or a coupe. The car was presented at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show on the Auto Becker stand.
