Information
The story of this Porsche 911 3.0L Carrera RS began in 1975, when it was assembled from a new chassis delivered by the Stuttgart factory directly to Louis Meznarie, a Paris-based racing specialist. Although it now proudly sports the livery of the 1975 Tour de France, the car never actually competed in that event, nor did it feature the famous wide-bodywork of the 3.0L RSR models at the time.
The following year, in 1976, it was acquired by Francis Roussely from Nancy. Despite retiring during his first outing at the Ronde des Vosges, Roussely quickly found his rhythm and won the overall classification at the Ronde Luronne in early May. The car went on to achieve a string of successes with various renowned drivers. The legendary Thierry Sabine, with co-driver Dominique Surre, drove it to an outright victory at the Rallye International du Touquet. Later that year, Roussely and Sabine teamed up for the Tour de France Automobile, securing a respectable 14th place overall. The 1976 season—comprising eleven races—concluded on a high note with a brilliant victory for Bruno Saby at the Critérium International de Saint-Amand-les-Eaux.
In 1977, the Porsche changed hands, moving to Chinon to join Philippe Malbran. Malbran maintained the car's high level of performance; he dominated his class at the Critérium de Touraine and at Charnizay, and even claimed the overall win at the Rallye de Ploegsteert. He kept up the momentum in 1978, racking up consecutive class victories and once again winning the Rallye du Touquet overall. The car was subsequently sold to Jean Lechele in 1979. It distinguished itself once more with a class victory at the La Rochelle *Rallye d'Automne* before fading from the competitive scene. Kept by Rudy Torello from 1993 onwards, the Porsche gradually fell into obscurity, eventually reduced to nothing more than a bare chassis.
Its fortunes changed again in 2016. Repurchased by its former owner, it underwent a monumental restoration project. Between 2016 and 2018, the car was fully restored and rebuilt to the ultimate specifications and aggressive bodywork of the 3.0L Carrera RSR. Far from ending its days in a museum following this transformation, it has returned to the racetrack. Today, it continues to dominate its class, as evidenced by its recent class victory at the prestigious Tour Auto 2023.
