Information
This Porsche 908/02 belonged to Vasek Polak. It was originally fitted with a narrow-body 917/10 chassis. Damaged and corroded sections of the chassis have been replaced and carefully rebuilt. Historical photographs complete its documentation.
The car is equipped with a mechanical tachometer with a trailing needle, a mechanical oil pressure gauge, its original fuel tanks, front and rear 908 wheel hubs, four brake calipers, a driver's seat, and a chassis designed for the 908 8-cylinder engine.
It was last raced in 1982. Drivers included Danny Ongais, Tony Adamowicz, Milt Minter, and Jack McAfee.
The car has since been purchased by the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in 2023, and underwent a full restoration to driving condition. A new motor and transmission was acquired from Porsche, bringing the car back to life for the first time since 1982.
