Information
Only raced once at 1987 Monterey Grand Prix. This was Porsche's debut at CART/Indy, as well as the first Porsche single seater since the 1960s. However, the 2708 was a huge failure, which is pretty rare in Porsche's motorsport history. It retired from its first race after only 7 laps, and failed to qualify in its second race.
In 1988, Porsche turned to use March chassis and only supplied engines, so the Porsche 2708 chassis were abandoned. Their results became much better, won a race in 1989 and finished P4 in the championship. However that's not what 2708 had achieved. Because the Porsche and March chassis are very similar, many including Porsche themselves sometimes mix them up, considering Porsche 2708 as a decent race winning car.
