Pontiac Vibe GT-R
The Pontiac Vibe GT-R is a show car that was featured at the 2001 SEMA Show in Las Vegas Nevada. The Pontiac Vibe would not come out till 2002 and the Vibe GT would be in 2003. The Vibe GT-R was meant to drum up excitement for the upcoming model and appeal to a younger audience. GM achieved this by putting in a 1.8L I4 producing 190hp, a six speed manual transmission, and bright red Momo bucket seats. A major talking point of this car was a custom audio enclosure which includes a 10in subwoofer and Kenwood amplifier in the cargo area, along with a Kenwood stereo, and a graphic equalizer.
The Vibe GT-R features a 'street racer' body kit, a functional hood scoop, two rear wings, a ram air induction system, 19in Motegi Racing Wheels, adjustable suspension, yellow tinted headlights, PIAA driving lights, and an APEXi exhaust. All of these parts come from General Motors Service Parts Operation with the asymmetrical hood scoop, a rear deck wing, roof wing, and the 4.5in exhaust tip all came from them. General Motors Service Parts Operation were also the ones put incharge of front and rear fascias (panels), the exterior was painted in PPG Opera Red metallic with Vibe GT-R badging to really complete the look. All of these were put into the Vibe to make it the Vibe GT-R in hopes it would entice a younger audience to go out and buy one.
In the front there is a pair of adjustable red Momo bucket seats for the sportness of the car but in the rear there is a folding bench trimmed in black cloth. It also features Momo details with Momo polished door sill plates, Momo pedal pads, and even a sunroof. The steering wheel is trimmed in red and black, 150mph (241 kph) speedometer, 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. Even though you'd be the coolest person ever while driving, sadly this car is not road legal due to it not meeting the requirement of a 17-digit VIN with it displaying only 9 digits.
