Information
Peugeot 908 Hybrid LMP1 prototype
The Peugeot 908 Hybrid is a race prototype developed in 2008 2009 by Peugeot Sport, based on an additional and specially modified chassis of the 908 HDi FAP. It combined a V12 diesel engine with a KERS system that recovered braking energy to provide a temporary electric boost. Designed as a technology demonstrator ahead of future regulations, it never raced, as hybrid systems were not yet allowed in LMP1. Only one example was built, used for testing and public demonstrations. The 908 Hybrid played an important role in the development of the new Peugeot 908 HDi introduced in 2011, which was designed with hybrid compatibility in mind before the entire Peugeot endurance program was canceled in 2012.
