Information
During the 1989 season, the Onyx team was struggling economically after Jean-Pierre Van Rossem was involved in a lot of controversies in F1. Arriving to Portugal, showed improvement with the car. During the race, Stefan Johansson decided to try a risky strategy of not pitting for new tyres, which would help them to save time. This proved to be a good desition as both Williams were forced to retire due overheating problems, this left Johansson on third place, scoring Onyx Grand Prix's only podium, as well Johansson's final podium.
Upgraded to ORE-1B specification for 1990.
