Nissan Micra 350SR
Based off of the K12 generation of the Nissan Micra, the Micra 350SR was built to show off the performance potential of a hatchback. It was built in 2002 by the RML group who were the same people responsible for racing the Micra in the British Touring Car Championship. To showcase the extreme performance found in touring car racing, this one off micra had a 3.5L V6 dropped into the back with modifications to help push it just that much more. These included 350Z headers, NISMO hi-lift cams, a modified intake system, and a tuned ECU. All this was sent to the rear wheels exclusively through a 6 speed manual transmission in a car that weighed 2,646 lbs (1,200 kg).
The Micra 350SR was never meant to be put into production but it was made to be used as a demonstration tool, which is what the Micra did for years along with being displayed and kept in storage. Over 23 years the car got roughed up a little so Nissan sent it to the Nissan Design Studio in London for a restoration, Here they added LED headlights, a new silver and blue livery, new roll cage, new seats, and even put in a 9 in (22.8 cm) touch screen for apple car play or android auto. Nissan says that the driver can use the screen to listen to music through all new speakers that were installed in the restoration process. The process has turned the out of date Micra 350 SR into something Nissan is displaying as heritage and motorsport history.
The restoration was done to mark the 23 ( Ni-san in Japanese) year anniversary before the release of the new full EV Micra.
