There was another attemp to run a Minardi in F3000. In 1989, Luciano Pavesi racing team modified a M188, fitting it with Cosworth engine and Avon tyres and tested the car at Vallelunga at the end of February / beginning of March. For that test, the driver was Luis Perez-Sala who scored a best time of 1.05.6 (F3000 pole time in 88 was 1.06.52). Dindo Capello was supposed to be the driver but the project was cancelled three week after Perez-Sala test because of a lack of sponsor.
