Information
A concept conceived by Giovanni Michelotti based off the Matra 530 displaying possible future design cues for the sports cars of the French manufacturer. Its wedge shape is characteristic of the trends of the time while elements like the enlarged wheel arches are not there just for show but actually functional - they redirect more air into the Ford V4 engine mounted midships behind the cockpit. The pop-up headlights were trendy back then as well while the gullwing doors were very rare, only seen in other concept cars.
The car made its debut at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show but did not bring enough attention to send it into production so it was worked on for the 1972 Montreal Motor Show, featuring a metallic grey finish this time. It somehow ended up in the Matsuda Collection in Japan for some time.
