Information
This particular car almost certainly had a accident because it was returned to Mercedes Benz and its chassis was replaced by #35206, one of the 1927 German GP cars and with engine #60516 fitted used by Mercedes Benz as a works demonstrator. Mercedes sold the car to a Frenchman in 1932 and it remained in France until discovered by a Mr. Looyens, a Dutchman who worked in the Bugatti business. This car’s chassis was in two separate entities; the chassis in the USA, the engine and parts in the car Looyens bought. The parts and engine were built up by Mr. Scharwechter on a new chassis which passed to Mr. Blijlevens and was then restored by Vancouver restorations after they also acquired the chassis and it was re-united with all original parts.
