Originally delivered in Hellblau over chequered interior, repainted to silver by second owner. First restoration done by the second owner in November 1965-June 1966 by the factory. This included a replacement engine with matching numbers, front disc brakes which had been introduced on the 300 SL Roadster in 1961. The new engine had higher powered NSL camshaft. This restoration cost 26,300 DM at a time when the original price of a 300SL was 29,000 DM in 1955. He originally planned to go on an 8 week honeymoon tour of all 50 US States, but instead ended up lasting 8 years and including Europe as well. Third owner repainted the car back to original colour of Hellblau in 2019.
