Information
Originally Light blue metallic over red leather. Delivered to the 'Sportabteilung' (Race Department) to get prepped for racing and then subsequently raced from 1955-1957. No factory teams were allowed in SCCA at the time so Mercedes-Benz secretly supported the team of George Tulip with multiple gullwings, including this one. Tulips team won the championship in 1955 with the help of this vehicle, and the car was sold to Rudy Cleye who continued to race it throughout 1956. After a few races in 1956 Rudy painted the car white. It made a few more race appearances in 1957 and then went through multiple owners. Today it is at HK Engineering and is cosmetically unrestored, still wearing the white paint from 1956. Karosserie-nr.: A198040-5500267.
