P1 VP5
Originally Volcano Yellow then rebodied to K Purple Carbon before going back to Volcano Yellow'Toward the end of production, and in response to soaring demand, McLaren recommissioned 14 prototype cars to a saleable standard.
Each prototype was stripped of parts that were worn or obsolete and then sent down the production line for a final time, retaining as a minimum the all important monocell and prototype VIN number.
The selling price for the Prototypes was £1.5mn (inc vat), with most cars entering private collections, unlikely to be seen again.
The rebuild of Validation Prototype 5 (VP5) was specified by its one and only owner in Volcano Yellow the official launch colour of the P1, along with a black Alcantara interior and yellow Brake Callipers.
Swiss supplied and registered in September 2015, the car has covered a little over 6000 kms since being delivered.
Soon after delivery the owner took advantage of the MSO Carbon Fibre Body upgrade and returned the car to McLaren where a stunning Purple Metallic Tinted Carbon Fibre Body was fitted.
The car has a full-service history, and all factory updates. It is currently clothed in its original yellow bodywork and will be supplied with the carbon body which is currently in storage.' - La Source Auto 08/2022
