At the 1994 Brazilian Grand Prix, Jordan's Eddie Irvine was lapping Ligier's Eric Bernard, but he didn't see Benetton's Jos Verstappen approaching. Irvine's overtake manoeuvre pushed Verstappen onto the grass; Verstappen lost control and took off Irvine and Bernard, as well as McLaren's Martin Brundle in front. The Benetton rolled over and hit Brundle's head; luckily, he escaped serious injury. Irvine was given a three-race ban and a $10,000 fine.
The McLaren chassis was never used again, despite the fact that the hit was not mainly on the car.
