Information

Winner of 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix
Mostly used as a spare car and test car, only used in race at Brazil. At that race, Ayrton Senna started from pole, but suffered from a gear box failure during the last phase of the race. He lost third, fourth and fifth gear, and could only use sixth gear to finish the race. Senna tried all he could to maintain the car on track and bring it home. He won the race with a gap of only 2.99 seconds. After crossing the line, Senna was extremely exhausted and had bruised muscles, he could not move and was lifted from the car, driven to the podium by the medical car. On the podium, he could barely lift the trophy and almost collapsed. This was considered as one of the most iconic race of Senna's career.

Due to lack of complete record, this chassis has always been considered as the spare car of Brazil Grand Prix. McLaren swapped to this chassis before the race, and this kind of chassis change during the race weekend was hardly recorded. This is known to the public when this car is auctioned by RM Sotheby's in 2025, where official log book from McLaren is given.
