Information
When the car passed to a Madame Conesa in the US, it was used to transport 75kg of heroin from Le Havre to New York. Conesa was the head of a gang of smugglers, and a girlfriend of the gangsters Claude and Maurice Schoch. Copying the 1971 movie The French Connection, the heroin was stored under the boot cover, beside the spare tyre. This wasn’t Madame Conesa’s first attempt as such escapades she’d previously tried to smuggle heroin into the US via drilled-out Louis XIV furniture. However, the first canine sniffer dog detected the package, and the US-licensed Ghibli was confiscated by French customs in 1974.
