Information
One of the very last first series 4 CLTs, this chassis was acquired new by future Formula 1 World Champion Giuseppe Farina. He took delivery of the car on June 15th, 1949 and raced it to victory in the BRDC International Trophy and the Grand Prix de Lausanne in the remainder of the 1949. Farina joined Alfa Romeo the following year and the 4CLT was returned to Maserati. It was rebuilt and sold as a new car, with chassis number 1612, to Scuderia Milan. It was raced in Europe during the 1950 and 1951 seasons and then sold to Argentina where it was also campaigned. In more recent years, chassis 1602 was offered for the first from a single ownership of 40 years by London-based dealer Fiskens. The next custodian subsequently entered the four-cylinder Maserati in the 2022 Monaco Historic Grand Prix for former Formula 1 driver Esteban Guiterrez.
