Information
During 1988 Detroit GP practice, Ivan Capelli lost control while entering the main straight, the car hit the wall heavily. Capelli broke his foot and was forced to miss the race. Also the debris hit several people near the Lotus pit wall, but nobody was seriously injured.
This chassis previously served as a spare car, so it never actually raced. It was written off at Detroit, later repaired and sold.
