Information
The only raced Lotus 80.
In 1979, Lotus planned to develop a more aerodynamically advanced car, but the 80, unlike its predecessor 79, was a total failure, it porpoised seriously. Only after 3 races, Lotus replaced 80 with 79 again, hoping their marvelous champion car can win again. But by mid 1979, other teams like Ferrari, Williams and Ligier had all developed their ground effect cars based on Lous 79 design. At that time 79 was not competitive any more. Lotus never made it to fight for titles again.
