Information
Inspired by the bespoke Ferrari projects commissioned by the Brunei Royal Family, a member of the Saudi Royal Family made an attempt to secure a factory-built Spider through Pininfarina. When that request was declined, the project was entrusted to German coachbuilder Lorenz & Rankl.
Known for their work on high-end convertible conversions, including Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz models, Lorenz & Rankl had previously converted several Testarossas. However, this would be the only 512 TR that they'd transformed into a Spider. The coachbuilt modifications by Lorenz & Rankl extend well beyond the removal of the hardtop. To support the open-top configuration, the conversion included both cowl and chassis reinforcements.
